Friday's Progress

Work on the hull panels continues... the two aft panels have received three coats of epoxy. The two forward panels were taped and received the first epoxy this morning. A second coat will go on later this afternoon, and the third coat will be applied early tomorrow morning.

The finger-joined spruce will work for the chine-logs. Experimenting a bit with the Japanese saw this morning, I ripped a 48mm strip from one of the 8' pieces of the spruce material. None of the joins failed during the sawing, and I didn't try breaking the piece over my knee. I clamped the newly cut strip to the saw horses to square the edge and trim it to the line with the block plane. Using the Japanese saw certainly took longer than using a power tool, but I feel there is better control over the blade and the cut. I'll rip three more strips and then scarf the four pieces into 2 15' + lengths for the chine-logs.

A possible "major" problem has shown itself this morning. I cannot download pictures from the camera to the computer! Worked fine last night, but not this morning. I need to figure out what is going on as I really enjoy posting pictures here and on the forums.

Looking really good, Bob! Keep it up, she's going to come out awesome! what kind of epoxy speed are you using? My wet-on-wet coats had to go on a lot quicker than you, but I'm working w/ medium speed usually in the basement which is around 75 deg. or so (next to the furnace).
