Slow Progress

Reading others' posts and blogs makes me think I'm moving in slow motion - and I guess I am. A couple of things have kept me at a standstill for a while now (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!). With the Jeep out of service I have not been able to purchase the materials I need (stuff like plywood!). I have allowed my lack of space to become an excuse for lack of progress. I have plenty of bits and pieces to work on before I absolutely need that bigger space (besides, as noted last week, my daughter has the space for me to assemble the hull).

I guess a third rationalization for limited boat progress this week would be my preparations for the Timothy Lake outing. The camp box is nearly done.
It is just a box but it will gather a number of normally loose items (stove, nesting cookware, Dutch oven, utensils, and miscellaneous supplies) into an easier - albeit heavier - to carry piece of gear. I really dislike the multiple trips to carry stuff from the car to the camp site, and back. The fewer trips the better. Think of this box as a prototype - I'll use it a few times to see how I'd want to change/improve it and then make another one. Since I don't plan to paint this one (at least not before the Oregon trip) I am sure it will rain all of next weekend!

As for other preparations, I am staging my gear and making the inevitable lists to make sure I take what I need. Wednesday afternoon is going to be busy.

For now, it is time to sand and prime the foils one (at least) more time...
